Adele Garcia Newsom

Adele Garcia Newson, 88, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at her residence in Nederland surrounded by her loving family. Adele was born in Giddings, Texas on December 20, 1932 to the late, Joe Garcia and Beatrice Hernandez Garcia.

Adele was the owner of El Charro Mexican Restaurant in Port Arthur for many years. She was a Christian woman and loved her husband and her entire family with all of her heart.

Adele is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Garcia and Beatrice Hernandez Garcia; sisters, Lupe Roy, Dora Juarez and Mamie Hannon; brothers, Joe Garcia, Jr. and Louis Garcia.

Those left to cherish Adele’s memory include her loving husband of 71 years, James R. Newsom; daughter, Elida Bertrand of Kountze, Texas; son, Richard Newsom and his wife, Sandy of Port Neches, Texas; daughter, Janella Gillespie of Port Neches; son, Damian Newsom of Nederland, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate Adele’s life will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland at a later date.

I have known her as Mrs. Newsom but, mostly as Nanny. I will always remember her as a truly kind and gracious lady. The love story she shares with Pa is one of true devotion. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to the Newsom family.
