Alan Ray "Speedy" Taylor

1954 ∼ 2014

Alan Ray Taylor “Speedy” 60, of Lumberton, Texas, left this earthly home on Friday, May 23, 2014. He is survived by his daughters, Samantha Lynn Taylor of Kountze and Amy Taylor Collazo and her husband, Justin of Port Neches; his brother, Tommy Taylor of Silsbee; and mother and step-father, Arlene and Marion Marceaux of Kaplan, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his father, Homer Ray Taylor.

He was born on February 6, 1954 in Beaumont. Speedy was a 1972 graduate of Nederland High School. He went on to work in the off shore drilling industry before becoming a sheetrock and paint contractor. Most recently, God blessed him with amazing new friends and a wonderful job with Micro Integration.

Speedy loved to play disc golf. He found so much joy, friendship, and acceptance amongst this great group of people. He lived a life full of adventure, great memories, and of course, a few mishaps along the way. He was truly one of a kind. Through the tough times, Speedy found grace and forgiveness from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Though we will miss his face, his jokes, and his “profound moments of epiphany” we find solace in the truth that this life is but a vapor in the heavenly realm and he is spending eternity with our Father.

A Graveside Service will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Hanley officiating. A gathering of the family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Speedy has been a friend to our family so long I don't remember life without him. He was so full of joy and love for our Lord. I have many memories of him, but I will choose this one to share. Over 25 years ago we were remodeling our home in Wildwood. Well Speedy & I were in charge of painting & wall papering. Speedy & I were also filled with the Holy Spirit. I was upstairs and Speedy was down stairs. I put our praise music on and that did it. We got to praising God & Speedy got to praying. At some point we were both face to the floor praising, praying, crying. It was great. Then my husband Russell came in. The paint drying in the pans, no paper on the wall and Speedy & I got to laughing. We all 3 laughed til we cried. Russell said we couldn't be left alone anymore. The house would never get painted. Sweet friend, you are as clear as if you were here to me. We shared lots of memories, right. How blessed to have you in our lives. Russell & I love you. We will see you again. Love in Christ.
