Albert Edward Champeaux known to many as “Frenchie” departed this life on April 23, 2026 in Bridge City Texas. Born on September 13, 1928, in New Ibera Louisiana and later moving to Texas.
Albert then met his wife Lillie and married in 1950 living in Port Arthur, Houston, Lamarque the settling in Groves Texas. Albert his wife and children were long time residents of Groves Texas where Albert worked for the City of Groves Water Plant as a Mechanic and Water Operator for 31 years. Albert also did Upholstery work at his home and was very well known for his craft.
Albert retired at the age of 62 and with his wife moved to Colmesneil Texas to be close to extended family and live a slower paced life. Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, listening to Cajun music and watching old westerns.
Albert is survived by his wife of 76 years Lillie Champeaux and five children.
Jerrold Champeaux and wife Karen of Orange Texas, Terry Champeaux and wife Sundee of Bridge City Texas, Lee Champeaux and wife Penny of Port Neches Texas, Dean Champeaux and wife Susan of Mauriceville Texas and daughter Nikki Guerrero and husband John of Groves Texas.
Along with is Grandchildren: Jared Champeaux and wife Annabell, Brian Champeaux and wife Jennifer, Michael Champeaux, Courtney Thompson and husband Heath, Morgan Champeaux fiancé Brant Halfin, Kayla Champeaux fiancé Aaron DeLuna, Amy Broussard and husband Jacob, Chad Champeaux and wife Corinna, Dalton Broussard along with seventeen Great Grandchildren.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents Albert Joseph Champeaux and Anita Robicheaux Champeaux along with two brothers Allen and Earl and two sisters Nora and Margie of Louisiana. Albert is also reunited with is grandson Terry “T2” Champeaux who left this life to soon.
Albert enjoyed his life in Colmesneil Texas and lived it on his terms all the way to the end.
Albert’s wife Lillie and his children wish to say a special thank you to their adopted family in Colmesneil Texas for all the help and support they have given with Albert the past few years. It made a world of difference and gave us comfort knowing he was being looked after. Thank you, Earnestine Waters daughter Missy and husband Shawn Purvis.
The Memorial to remember Albert Edward Champeaux will be held on May 2,2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves Texas located at 5601 39th Street 77619. Here the family and friends can gather to pay respects, tell stories and joke about Abert’s life lived.
In commemorating Albert’s life, we reflect on the large family he built with his wife Lillie, his love of the outdoors and the Love of the life he built in Colmesneil Texas the past 35 years.
