Alfred "Joe" Burns, 90, of The Woodlands, Texas died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at his residence. Joe was born September 12, 1923 in Deanville, Texas to Tom Burns and Addie Collins Burns. He was a resident of this area for over 60 years before moving to The Woodlands 8 years ago. Joe retired from Ameripol Synpol as a Safety Supervisor with 30 years of service and served in the US Coast Guard. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Port Neches. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Dr. David Mahfouz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:30 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Marie Burns and his daughter, Sheryl Booth. Surviving relatives include his daughters, Peggy Sanderson and husband Phil of The Woodlands, Texas; Cindy McFarland and husband Charles of Katy, Texas; sisters, Mildred Lasyon of Nederland, Texas; Hulene Chevalier and husband Ed of Beaumont, Texas; brother, Carl Burns and wife Myra of Nederland, Texas; 4 Grandsons and 8 Great Grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Port Neches Building Fund, P.O. Box 277, Port Neches, Texas 77651.
