Alfred "Lindy" Gothia

Alfred Lindy Gothia peacefully left this earth at the remarkable age of 97, leaving behind a lifetime of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.

He shared an extraordinary 75-year marriage with the love of his life, Aline. Together they built a family that was the center of his world. He is survived by his three daughters: Linda Gothia, Cindy Gothia Reynolds and her husband, Nathan (Buddy) Reynolds, and Mindy Gothia.

He was a proud grandfather to Lindsey Gothia and her husband, Steven Gill, and Morgan West and her wife, Naomi West. Nothing brought him more joy than watching the next generation grow. He was especially blessed with his great-grandchildren, Bryson Gill and Eli West, along with his step-grandchildren, Alan Reynolds, Kevin Reynolds, and Step great-grandchild Zachry Gill, Charlie Reynolds and Ayla Reynolds.

Lindy loved the simple things in life. He found peace outdoors, whether he was at the lake, sitting on his deck enjoying the view, or spending time in nature. Some of his happiest moments were mudding with his great-grandson, Bryson, making memories that will be treasured forever.

Some of life’s greatest lessons are learned with a toolbox in hand, and Eli is lucky to be learning them from his granddad.

He was also an incredibly talented carpenter with a gift for working with his hands. After a dedicated career, he retired from The Gulf Refinery, but his passion for building never faded. There wasn't much he couldn't build. From a simple bench to an entire house, Lindy took pride in creating things that would stand the test of time. His craftsmanship reflected the kind of man he was—patient, hardworking, humble, and dedicated to doing every job the right way.

A proud patriot, Lindy was honored to have served his country, and he carried that same sense of duty, integrity, and selflessness throughout his life. He was the kind of man who always showed up—for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. His love wasn't just spoken; it was demonstrated every day through his actions, sacrifices, and steadfast presence.

To know Lindy was to know kindness, wisdom, resilience, and unconditional love. His legacy is not only found in the family he cherished but also in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the things he built—both with his hands and with his heart.

He is preceded in death by Wife of 75 yrs Aline, father Mack Gothia, mother Levi, brother Mack Gothia Jr., sister in law Gloria English and husband Bill, brother in law Harold Rachal and nephews Bobby Cole and WM English

Survived by his sister Beverly Rachal and numerous Nieces and Nephews

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing he is reunited with the love of his life and at peace. His stories, his laughter, his strength, and his love will live on through each of us.

Rest easy, Granddad. Thank you for a lifetime of love. You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

Lindy’s life will be celebrated with a rosary on August 8, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am, followed by a visitation at 11:30 am until 12:30 pm and a funeral service at 12:30 pm at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627.
