Alice Marie LaCour

Alice Lee LaCour Alice Marie LaCour, 92, of Port Neches, TX, entered eternal life March 29, 2011. She was born in Bleakwood, TX and grew up in Beaumont. She graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1935. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. After high school she thought of being a nun but instead, married Carrol LaCour in 1938. She served on the PTA's of St. Anne, St. Pius X and St. Anthony. She was a volunteer at Mid-Jefferson Hospital and a driver for Meals on Wheels. Alice served her family as a homemaker. At age 65, she was thrilled to attend college at Lamar Port Arthur. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and watching Clark Gable movies. She faithfully made daily runs to chart the passage of ships on the Neches River. She cherished weekends at the beach. Alice LaCour is preceded in death by her parents, W. S. Lee, Sr. and Christiana Rabe Lee, and her stepmother, Willie Mae Lee, her brother Walter S. Lee, Jr. and her foster sister, Gloria S. Wakeley. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Carrol P. LaCour, her 5 daughters: Sr. Carletta LaCour of Houston, Sr. Thomas Ann LaCour of Plantersville, Deborah LaCour of Bryan, Stephanie LaCour Brian and husband Patrick of Denham Springs, LA, Christy LaCour Champagne and husband Jimmy of Port Neches. Her 8 grandchildren and spouses are: Aimee Sandifer Gross and Eric, Becky Sandifer Spaller and Patrick, Frank David Sandifer and Suzy, Emily Brian Sullivan and Gary, Lauren Brian Hawkins and Zachary and Courtney, Caitlyn and Melanie Champagne. Her 6 great grandchildren are: Abbie and Joshua Spaller, Shelbee and Garrett Gross, Braxton and Elisabeth Grace Sullivan. Her first cousins are Joan Burgin of Vidor, Buddy Rabe of Houston and Donald Hamilton of Port Arthur. Her nieces, nephews and their spouses are: Barbara and Linn Wallace, Donald and Jimmie Lee LaCour, Anita and Edwin Smith, Arles and Patricia Mason, Kay and Jerry Nicholas and Diana Lee Coffey, and sister-in-law Hazel Lee. A Christian Wake was held on Thursday, March 31 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Msgr. Ken Greig officiated. A Mass of the Resurrection will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, 2006 Nall, at 2:00PM on Friday, April 1. Concelebrants are Fr. Stephen McCrate and Msgr. Bennie Patillo. Burial will be at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches. Pallbearers are Richard Champagne, Eric Gross, Darin LaCour, Donald LaCour, Frank David Sandifer, and Patrick Spaller.
