Alice Bryant Lisenby

1933 ∼ 2025

Alice Marie Bryant Lisenby was born on June 1, 1933, during a trip to Cincinnati to visit family, in May of 1933, with her parents, Dudley and Evelyn Wissel Bryant and her siblings, Dudley Bryant, Jr. and Gloria Louise Bryant. Alice decided to make her debut in Covington, Kentucky before the family could cross the Ohio river.

The Texas Company was hiring, so the young family moved to Southeast Texas. They bought a home on the small, country road that Dudley's sister lived on. This is where the family grew and Alice attended school. She went to school in Nederland and became a lifelong Bulldog fan, still going to football games in her 80's.

Several years later, she met a young man from Bonifay, Florida, who had recently joined some of his family in the small town of Port Neches. Joseph Denzil Lisenby became the love of her life.

They were married on May 31, 1950 and were together for 69 years before his death in 2019. They had three children, Randa Dore', Ronnie Lisenby, and Linda Lisenby, all of Port Neches. In fact, they all live on Russell Avenue, the same country road where Alice grew up and spent the last 60 plus years of her life. She passed away in her home on June 19, 2025.

Even though Alice was shy, with Joe's help, she spent her life serving. She and Joe were always there for anyone who asked for help. Whether it was food baskets or a place to stay, she always had an open door. She served her church, of 62 years, Glad Tidings Assembly of God, wearing many hats including girl scout groups, Missionettes, and teaching young women about Jesus. She was honored to serve as Sectional Missionette Coordinator for 10 years. She and Joe could be found every Wednesday night picking up kids in the church van for several years.

Outside of church, she loved sports. For years, she had her season tickets to see her beloved "Nederland Bulldogs", where you could always hear her "Get Tough Bulldogs" above the crowd! She also loved going to Astros games. In her last days, she would ask if the Astros were playing, she would squint one eye and say, with enthusiasm, “Altuve, hit a home run!”

She was an avid crocheter and made some beautiful counted cross stitch pieces in her day. She was also and avid gardener tending her flower beds and particularly her dozens of amaryllis bulbs she watched for each year.

She is survived by her daughters, Randa Dore' and Linda Lisenby, both of Port Neches, and her son, Ronnie Lisenby and daughter-in-love, Angela of Port Neches. Dear to her heart were her grandchildren, David Dore' of Port Neches, Stephen Dore' and his wife, Laura of Atascocita, Olivia Blair of Houston, Erin Collins of Nederland, Amy Heidecker and her husband, Tim of Groves, and Amanda Huang and her husband, Jon of Port Neches. She adored her great grandchildren, Harmony Dore', Vivien Dore', Cassidy Ardillo, Seth Ardillo, Aidan Blair, Gavin Blair, Mia Heidecker, Dean Heidecker, Ellison Huang, and Everett Huang and her great great grandchild, Luke Ardillo.

Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Joseph Denzil Lisenby, her parents, Dudley and Evelyn Bryant, her siblings, Dudley Bryant, Jr., Gloria Jenkins, and Arthur Bryant, and a great granddaughter, Alice Danielle Ardillo.

Alice will be remembered with a visitation on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland, Texas, followed by a funeral service at the same location. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

Alice will always be remembered for her kindness to others and her steadfast love.

Aunt Alice was a kind and gentle person that touched so many lives. Her love of family and devotion to service brought joy and comfort to all who knew her. She was a great lifelong friend to my parents and was always there to offer a helping hand or an encouraging word. To my cousins Linda, Ronnie and Randa, I am sorry for your loss. Thank you, Aunt Alice, for showing us what a life of service, faith, and quiet strength can be. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

There's not enough room to share all the precious memories I have. I called her Mommy-O. She so tirelessly and cheerfully served in the church all of my life. I was so honored when we both got to receive the Esther Award in Galveston Texas. If it wasn't for her, I'm not sure I would've kept going with Missionettes.I can't remember a single family event that she and Daddy missed. Every graduation every life accomplishment they take our family to Red Lobster in Beaumont I'm thankful she's in heaven. I can't say my heart isn't broken though. Please know, family and friends. I love you all and I'm praying for the comfort of Jesus to be with you at this time. Though I may be far away please know I'm close in thought and prayer.

Alice (Nana as we affectionately called her) always had a ready smile for anyone who passed her way. She was there to give a piece of loving advice when asked, or to share a family memory, which usually had everyone laughing by the end of her story! A woman of faith, we loved her dearly and she will greatly missed!
