Aline Crocker

Aline Crocker, 99, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. Dewey Aline Shelton was born November 22, 1923 to Nora Hart Shelton and Thomas E. Shelton Sr. in Beaumont, Texas. Aline was the third child in a family of seven children. She attended Edward Grade School (one year at Giles) and French High School. Her last several jobs in Beaumont was at Dollinger Steel Company. She married Alton F. Crocker in 1949. They were married for 61 years.

She was a life-long resident of the area. She was a homemaker and loved sewing, doing puzzles, and clipping coupons. Granny Aline helped out with her grandkids tirelessly, taking kids to and from school, dance, practice or anywhere they needed to go. She enjoyed painting and refurbishing furniture and cabinets and gave many of these away to those she thought would need them. She loved to sit outside in her swing when the weather was nice. One of her favorite things of all was mowing grass on her riding lawnmower.

She was an avid member of The Church of Christ since 1952. She enjoyed doing volunteer work for the church. She would spend hours dubbing tapes in various languages to be sent to foreign countries for the purpose of spreading God’s word. She would help prepare packages of Christian material to be mailed to foreign countries and to inmates in the United States that were seeking God’s Word.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton F. Crocker; and her two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her daughters; Joyce E. Short of Nederland; Marilyn Merrill and husband Mike of Crystal Beach; and her two sons; Alton L. Crocker and wife Christi of Nederland; and Paul Crocker and wife Andrea of Nederland; and her sister, Sarah Preist of Ohio. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Richard Short Jr; John Short; Blaine Crocker; Jessica Rawlinson; Hayley Merrill; Dustin Stark; Deanna Miller; Chad Merrill; Abbi Crocker; Caden Crocker; twelve great-grandchildren, Richard Short III; Phoebe Short; Gavin Short; Payton Rawlinson; Ricky Neel, Elaina Neel; Jace Miller; Jaysa Miller; Braylin Miller; Scotlyn Miller; Riley Merrill; Ella Merrill; and one great-great-grandchild, Marlee Miller.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm-8:00pm, Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches, Texas.
