Allie Eve Leatherwood

Allie Eve Leatherwood, 96, of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital in Houston, Texas. Allie was born June 1, 1918 in Port Arthur, Texas to Etienne and Sedonia Billiot. She was a resident of Groves for 68 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Groves for 60 years. Allie retired as a school nurse from PNGISD. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Leatherwood, and daughter, Joan Leatherwood. Survivors include her son, Wayne Leatherwood of Houston; brother, Kenneth Billiot of Groves; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Dr. Joe Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

My parents were neighbors and good friends of Mrs. Leathereood. I visited with her after my parents died and enjoyed seeing her. I also had one of her Boston Terrier puppies for 15 years. She was such a terrific lady. Sorry for your loss

Mrs. Leatherwood, I will always remember as like a ray of sunshine always smiling and cheerful no matter what the weather was like. She was a very caring person and may she rest in peace.
