Alma Lou Scarborough, 90, of Nederland, Texas, passed away April 1, 2016. She was born February 25, 1926, in Elizabeth, Louisiana to the late Lue Washington Locke and Ludie Mary McKee. Alma was a great mother, grandmother, housewife, and an awesome cook.
Alma is survived by her husband, Welton Scarborough of Nederland; daughter, Melinda Evans and husband J.D. of Nederland; sons, Alan Scarborough and wife Linda of Houston, and Alton Scarborough and wife Shauna of Silsbee; brother, L.W. Locke and wife Marlene of Vidor; granddaughters, Danielle Fontenot of Nederland, and Hallee Fontenot of Nederland; grandson, Kenneth Farguson of Houston; great-grandson, Dylan Farguson; and life-long friend, Jeanie Green.
Alma is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, J.C. Locke, Lavon James, and Marvin James; and sister Evilee Shankle.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A funeral service will be Wednesday April 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God in Nederland, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting donations to the National Kidney Society - kidney.org
