Alton H. Hughes

Alton H. Hughes, 85, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at St. Mary Dubuis Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. He was born December 6, 1926 in Dozier, Alabama to the late Ewel and Mary Jones Hughes. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army in Germany. He retired as a technical engineer from the Texas Highway Department.Alton is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Delores O39Neil. He is survived by his wife, Earlene Branch Hughes of Port Neches 3 daughters, Carolyn Hughes of Groves, Catherine Galmor and husband, David of Beaumont, and Scherry Lynn Hughes of Lumberton 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Hughes of Lumberton, David M. McCurley, Jr. of Houston, and Jonathon Shane McCurley of Floral Park, New York 4 greatgrandchildren, Andrew McCurley of Corpus Christi, Heavenleigh Lynn Hughes of Lumberton, Madison McCurley and Colton McCurley, both of Floral Park, New York and brother, Lamar Hughes and wife, Evelyn of Bridge City.A graveside service will be held at a later date.Details and guest registry available at Melancons.org.
