Alvin Leo Bergeron, 97, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Senior Rehab. Alvin was born October 29, 1920 in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a lifelong Port Arthur resident and member of the Baptist faith. Alvin was a barber and owner of Bergeron Barber Shop for 72 years and came from a long line of four generations of barbers. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Throughout the years he belonged to various clubs and organizations in the area. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing and football. He and his wife enjoyed going to flea markets locally and out of town. He loved the various dogs he had throughout his life especially his last one, Mindy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Nona Smith Bergeron. Her picture is included with Alvin's due to not being able to provide a picture of her at the time of her death on January 31, 2018 because of Tropical Storm Harvey. Alvin was also preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mena Bergeron; and his only brother, Dustin Bergeron. His sole survivor is his only child, daughter, Debra L. Bergeron of Port Arthur. A visitation is set at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves from 12 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
