Amelia Martinez, 95, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011, to return home to her father in heaven. She was born on February 7, 1916 in Rosebud, TX to the late Guadalupe and Juanita Sandoval. Amelia lived all of her life in the Port Arthur and Nederland area where she was a seamstress for over 40 years. She and her husband, Valente Martinez, were the founders of LaSuprema Mexican Restaurant. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Valente Martinez, and four brothers, Jack, Pete, Joe and Arthur Sandoval. Amelia is survived by her three sons and their wives: Jesse and Fran, Richard and Vicky, Roy and Ramona Martinez two sisters, Mary Trevino and Alice Estrada sisterinlaw: Georgia Sandoval six grandchildren: Stacey Martinez, Dara Biegert, Val Martinez, Remi Bryan, Jason Martinez, Brandi Ernst seven great grandchildren: Jarrod Bogan, Traci Bogan, Sterling Biegert, Cal Bryan, Lucy Martinez, Nico Martinez, William Ernst and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral services will be held at Melancon39s Funeral Home , 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, with Father David Placette of St. Charles Catholic Church, Nederland, officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves where with love and appreciation we lay our matriarch to rest. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 18, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Amelia39s name to the Julie Rogers Cancer Foundation or Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
