Angela “Angie” Prather passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Beaumont, TX. Born in Port Arthur, TX to Dudley Richard and Peggy Deshotel on May 19, 1961, Angie was raised in Nederland, TX and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Despite being a young mother to two children, Jacob, born in 1977, and Jana, born in 1984, Angie’s passion and desire to help people never faltered, motivating her to enroll and complete nursing school at Lamar University Port Arthur.
Angie spent her adult life as a well-respected nurse and hard-working mother. She set an example for her children of selflessness and generosity by always caring for and putting the needs of others first. Angie spent years tirelessly working as a nurse in doctor’s offices and hospitals, to transitioning to a hospice nurse to delicately and gracefully help others at the finality of their lives. Angie’s desire to help others did not end at work as she spent many years caring for her aging father Dudley prior to his passing. Angie truly had a gift with people and never met a stranger. She was full of life, laughter and love and lived every moment to its fullest. Angie’s favorite days were those that were spent surrounded by her friends and family, and she never took any moment for granted.
Angela is survived by her children, Jacob Aaron Richard of Port Arthur, Tx, Jana Kay Prather and Jacob Travis of Port Arthur, TX and two grandchildren: Hunter Richard & Kyla Kugler of Nederland, Tx; sisters Debbie Davis and husband, Jimmy Don Davis of Nederland, Beckie Hubbard of Alvin, Tx, and nieces Danyelle Junot, Miranda Spitzenberger & Emily Hubbard. Angie was preceded in death by both her mother, Peggy Richard, and father Dudley Richard and her life companions Zoey, Ladie and Tipsy.
