Angelica "Angel" Hernandez

1943 ∼ 2026

Angelica (Angel) Hernandez a cherished wife, mother and grandma, went to her heavenly home on March 24, 2026, at Bonnie Vie with her loving husband by her side, after suffering a major stroke almost 2 years ago. Angel was born on December 21, 1943 in Laredo Texas to her parents Felipe and Elvira Vergara. She was a graduate of PNG class of 1962. She was also a very active and lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Port Neches, Texas. Angel’s commitment extended far beyond attendance. She embraced numerous roles within the church, notably as an Outreach leader, a youth teacher for Girls in Action (GA's), and a Vacation Bible School instructor. Her passion for ministry and service was further reflected in her involvement with the Benevolent Committee and the Homebound Ministry. Angel’s heart was ever open, and she was known to be a true friend to anyone in need, embodying compassion and generosity throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Richard Edmund Hernandez. Her daughter Andrea Harrington and husband Kris and her pride and joy grandson Anthony Harrington. She is also survived by her sister Hilda Hernandez (Frank) and brothers, Orlando Vergara, Phil Vergara and Roy Vergara, her brother-in-law and sister-law, Robert Hernandez, Jr. and his wife, Pat. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Angel was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Mark Ryan Hernandez and her sister, Janie Hodgin.

We would like to thank the staff of Bonnie Vie and especially her nurse, Barbara and all her caretakers for taking care and loving her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Port Neches. Funeral service will follow on Saturday, March 28, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm also at First Baptist Church Port Neches follows by burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches TX.

Angelica Hernandez’s life was a testament to the power of faith, service, and love. Her spirit lives on through the countless lives she touched, the church she served so faithfully, and the family who cherished her deeply. She will be remembered always as a shining example of grace and compassion, a true friend to many, and a treasured heart within the fabric of her beloved Texas community.

In lieu of flower, the family request donation be made to the Carol Stefflen Scholarship Fund in care of the First Baptist Church of Port Neches, https://secure.accessacs.com/access/oglogin.aspx?sn=99417.
