Angelina "Tootsie" Bruno Dartez, 87, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was known for her loving nature and devotion to her family and friends.
Born on January 31, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas, Tootsie graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Throughout her life, she cherished moments with her daughters, engaging in heartfelt "coffee talks" and taking care of her family while delighting anyone who visited her with delicious meals.
Tootsie had a warm personality and was a dedicated member of Freedom Christian Fellowship, finding solace in attending church until her illness prevented her from doing so. Her unwavering faith led her to pray for her loved ones until the end.
In her leisure time, Tootsie indulged in various hobbies. She frequented garage sales, enjoyed watching soap operas, dined out with delight, and showered love on animals, even those not belonging to her.
Tootsie is survived by her daughters, Lori Porter and husband Bubba of Nederland, Texas; and Jeanine Mullin and husband Jerry of Nederland, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Mullin Straw and husband Randy; and Evan Porter; great-grandchild, Jase Porter.
Tootsie is now reunited in death with her parents, Mary (Mondello) Bruno and Salvatore "Sam" Bruno; spouse, Joseph Mahlan Dartez; grandson, Jordan Porter; and siblings, Rose Licatino, Mary Hebert, Roy Bruno, Nick Bruno, Kathryn Monk, Joseph Bruno, Lena Mallet, and Sadie Harrington.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to begin at 11:00 a.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland; 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627. A cremation service will take place following the service for Angelina “Tootsie” Bruno Dartez.
May Tootsie's kind soul and loving spirit continue to inspire those she touched. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
