Antonio Tony Resendez, 88, of Groves, Texas passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at a private health care facility in Port Neches. He was born in Dacosta, Texas to the late Jesus Resendez and Maria DeJesus Vargas on September 10, 1924. He retired as an operator for the Local 450 and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.A gathering of family and friends will be held at Artero Funeral Home in Victoria from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013 with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Victoria. Interment will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery in Victoria.Tony is preceded in death by his parents and was the last of 14 children. He is survived by his son, Jessie Resendez and wife, Kathleen of Georgetown his daughters, Rose Cormier and husband, C. J. of Orange, Becky Slocum and husband, Bill of Port Arthur, Tonie Thompson and husband, Jim of Groves, and Sylvia Courville of Houston 7 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.Local arrangements are under the ion of Melancons Funeral Home in Nederland.
