Capt. Archie Croom, 89, of The Woodlands, Texas formerly of Nederland, passed away November 24, 2011. He was born October 18, 1922 in Elton, Louisiana to the late Monte C. and Eva Joubert Croom. Archie was the owner of The Compass Adjuster, adjusting compasses in the area and other parts of the state for 30 years. He served his county proudly in the U. S. Coast Guard for 20 plus years and in the Oil Patch Industry for 10 years.Funeral services will be held at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Ronnie Croom officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.He is survived by his wife, Maxine Cornish Croom of The Woodlands 3 sons, Larry Croom of Nederland, Donald Croom of Sour Lake, and Teddy Croom of Orangefield 5 grandchildren 7 greatgrandchildren 6 stepchildren 10 stepgrandchildren 11 stepgreatgrandchildren and brother, Jack Croom of Spring. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, M. C. Croom.
