Archie Calvin Sanders, age 89, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. He was born on March 15, 1926 in Kilgore, Texas to the late Archie T. Sanders and Nellie Stakes. He retired after 45 years of service in Industrial Sales, and served our country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII.

Archie is survived by his son, Randy Sanders and his wife, Maxine of Beaumont; daughter-in-law, Vicci Sanders of Houston; grandson, Kris Sanders and his wife, Jaylyn of Lumberton; great-grandsons, C.J. Sanders of Lumberton and Devin Sanders; and great-granddaughter, Alexus Sanders of Lumberton. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Betty Morrison.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Christian Fellowship Worship Center, 3590 Pointe Pkwy in Beaumont on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. A gathering of the family and friends will be held prior to the service at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Cremation was held under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.

I love you more today than yesterday— It’s Archie’s song. It will always be in my heart thanks to him. He’d call me Dad & say, with grave seriousness, “ya know Dad, iLoveYou more today than yesterday.” Then he break into a peak of laughter as only he could. He was always kidding around, “It helps to laugh. . . to keep from crying.” Indeed. One time he grabbed a clean napkin, slid it in front of him on the table, borrowed a pen from me, removed the cap, put the pen to paper, looked at me with grave seriousness and said, son I want you to listen to me, “I always try to laugh to keep from crying.” Then he broke into his peel of laughter, again. “Best day of my life, Dad.” Laughter. Best day of my life never stuck with me because life is an intense struggle, but I know “he loves me more today than yesterday,” so I “try to laugh to keep from crying.” Hey, maybe that’s how we make each new day “the best day of our life.” Wish I could get a 5 minute refresher with you, Archie. I carry you in my heart.

I will never forget this man. He brightened my day every time I saw him. Always the nicest smile and yeah even if his wasnt the Best Day of His Life it made mine that way when I saw him. He is having the best days of his life now and forever....dancing with his angel again and holding her close. I just hope the rest of the angels are ready for his wit.
