Arnold H. Elam, 91, of China, Texas and formerly of Port Arthur passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Arnold was born May 2, 1919 in Orange, Texas to Joe Elam and Myrtle Thompson Elam. He was a lifelong area resident and retired from Harper Oil. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and was a member of the American Legion. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Roy Malveaux, pastor of Shining Star Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday morning from 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Elam; daughter, Judith Piggott; son, Tommy Elam; and granddaughter, Kim Elam. Survivors include his daughter, Deanie Mackan and husband, Richard of China, TX; six grandchildren, Barry Piggott, David Piggott, Randi Thompson, Dana Trahan, Brandon Mackan and Ashley Elam; twelve great-grandchildren, Brian, Andi, Ronnie and Wendy Piggott, Blake and Lindsey Trahan, Kaitlin, Codey, Carli Thompson, Paisley Piggott, Maddy and Canton Mackan; two great-great grandchildren and a special niece, Cecile Francis Moss.
