Aubrey Jesse Dixon, 94, of Mauriceville, Texas passed away February 16, 2011 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. He was born May 7, 1916 in Louisiana to the late Jesse Delaware and Adella Sara Strother Dixon. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mauriceville and retired District Chief of the Beaumont Fire Department. Aubrey served his country proudly in the 36th Division of the U. S. Army during World War II, receiving two bronze stars, the silver star, the purple heart, and numerous medals. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV, Madison Masonic Lodge of Orange, and a member of the El Mina Shrine of Galveston.A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19th at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland, Rev. Dr. Douglas Caldwell officiating.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty J. Dean Dixon of Mauriceville daughter, Deana McMahon of Mauriceville brother, Donald Dixon of Brandon, Florida two grandchildren, Maggie and Faith McMahon and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willie Dixon.

One of the rymost beautiful persons weve ever known. I remember being ona cruse with he and Betty when one of the night shows was quotBig Band Musicquot.Aubrey and I tried outguessing each other for the names of the songs. It became quite a game Aubrey knew almost all of them We all had a wonderful time that I will never forget.Got bless you, Aubrey. Betty be at rest. We love you.Nancy Vic
