Audrey M. Daniel

Audrey May McKisson Daniel, 95 of Groves, Texas was born in Lima, Ohio, December 08, 1928. Audrey passed on from this life at Lucas Place in Beaumont, Texas on Friday, February 09, 2024.

Visitation will be at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 10 -11am.  The funeral service for Audrey will commence at 11:00am at the Levingston Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Growing up the daughter of a Methodist Minister, Audrey moved with her family to several states as her father served the Lord in numerous Churches in the Midwest and South. She was the eldest daughter of eight children and helped her mother with raising her younger siblings. She was introduced to her husband to be, Danny Barton Daniel, by her sister Ruth while attending Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. She and Dan were married, Friday, August 13, 1954 on Dan’s birthday, which they both considered their lucky day! Her father, Reverend Theron Thomas McKisson presided over the ceremony.  Dan and Audrey made their home in West Helena, Arkansas where their two sons were born. They moved their home to Groves, Texas to follow Dan’s career in the petrochemical industry. Their daughter Laura blessed their lives in Groves. Audrey was very active in the First United Methodist Church and later the First Christian Church in Port Arthur. As her daughter matured, Audrey became significantly involved in Girl Scouts of America, taking her Scouts on numerous camping trips across the country to explore National Parks and introduce them to skills and experiences that helped them mature into strong young women of good character. Audrey led by example. As she continued with her life of service in the Church, she served on church committees and sang in the choir. She enjoyed playing the piano and became an accomplished woodworker with the scroll saw, creating many beautiful Crosses as well as other projects.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Danny Barton Daniel, her parents, the Reverend Theron Thomas McKisson and his wife Ethel May Beight McKisson, her brothers, Theron Thomas McKisson, Jr., James McKisson, and Orval Ray McKisson, and sisters, Ruth Idella McKisson Smith, and Geneva Joann McKisson Peters and her grandson Brian Christopher Daniel. She is survived by her sister Mary Edith McKisson, and her brother John McKisson, her sons, Theron Mark Daniel, Bryan Keith Daniel, and daughter Laura Lynn Daniel May, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff at Lucas Place in Beaumont, Texas and the Staff at Altus Hospice for their professionalism and support. Memorial contributions can be made to the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto at www.gssjc.org in lieu of flowers.

Audrey was such an amazing woman! I knew her through Girl Scouts. Down to earth and practical, she made camping trips with the girls so much fun. Then her son, Keith, married my husbands niece, Pattie. Audrey was so loving and an important part of the family. She will be missed by all.

There are no words to express my deepest sympathy to Laura, Maelynn, Carson, Zeke, and family. Miss Audrey loved each of you deeply, as was shown to each of you throughout her lifetime. I smile when I recall the countless visits she made to Buckner Children's Village, always willing to step in and help with whatever we had going on. She will remain a powerful example of how to be a woman of grace, a mother, a Nana and friend. God bless you!
