B.G. “Bing” Sandlin, of Port Arthur, TX, passed away peacefully in is home on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the age of 83. He was accompanied by his beloved wife of 33 years, Marjorie, during his time of death.
Bing was born in Nederland, TX on June 19, 1937 to Bill and Amy Sandlin. Bing had two sisters, Elaine Wilson and Pat Thompson. Bing loved growing up in the small town of Nederland, TX, where he enjoyed duck hunting and playing on the Nederland High School football and baseball teams. Bing graduated from Nederland High School in 1955.
After high school, Bing began his long career of 42 years as the Human Relations Manager at Ameripol Synpol Corporation. During his adulthood, Bing was very involved in his church, Calvary Baptist in Beaumont, TX. Bing was a member of the church choir, an usher during services, and even traveled to Tanzania, Africa on a mission trip to share the word of God. Bing was also a member of First Baptist Church in Nederland, TX, and loved attending Sunday service on a regular basis. Outside of church and spending time with his wife, Marjorie, Bing was an avid golfer, and enjoyed watching his three grandsons play baseball.
Bing was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Amy Sandlin, and sisters: Elaine Wilson and Pat Thompson.
Bing is survived by his wife: Marjorie Sandlin, children: Brian Sandlin and Julie Kay Sandlin, stepsons: Brian and Brant Sampere, and grandchildren: Jason Devries, Jeremy Devries, Brandy Sandlin, Ryan Sampere, Aaron Sampere and Bryce Sampere.
The visitation and funeral service to celebrate the life of Bing Sandlin will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, TX. The funeral home is located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, TX 77627. The visitation will begin at 1 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm.
