Barbara Renska Booz Hayes

September 28, 1932 — December 18, 2016

Barbara Renska Booz Hayes went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 18, 2016. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. Barbara was born September 28, 1932 to Hannah Bos Booz and Clarence Edward Booz Jr. in Port Arthur, Texas, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1951. She then received her degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1955. While at UT, Barbara majored in home economics and was a member of the Tri-Delta sorority, YWCA, Cap and Gown, and a ROTC sponsor. Barbara was the Sweetheart of the University, Ten Most Beautiful Finalist, Bluebonnet Bell Finalist, and Cowboy Sweetheart. Barbara married her college sweetheart, Lloyd L. Hayes, in 1955. Always the quintessential homemaker, her door, heart, and table were open to everyone. In 1971, she started Park Plaza Interiors, with a penchant for creating beautiful rooms. Upon her husband's death, Barbara assumed the reigns of Hayes Inc. and Park Central Management. Barbara was a wonderful and involved mother to her two children, Kandy Hayes White and Mark L. Hayes. Known as "Honey," her most important role in life was as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was not only sweet like her name, but Honey was incredibly fun-loving, overly generous, and selfless. In 1997, Barbara moved to Dallas to permanently live with her daughter and family. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Lloyd L. Hayes in 1990; and her grandson, Justin White in 1981. Barbara leaves loving memories to be cherished by her adoring children; Kandy Hayes White of Dallas, Texas and Mark Hayes, and wife Heidi Hayes, of Bastrop, Texas; grandchildren; Heather White Linburg, and husband Barrett Linburg, Brandon White, Haydon White, Luke Hayes, Hannah Hayes, Lane Hayes, Sophie Hayes, and great-granddaughter, Natalie Linburg. Barbara will be buried in Port Arthur, Texas at Greenlawn Memorial Park with her husband and three preceding generations of her family. Barbara was a member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCPC) where she enjoyed Sunday services and Wednesday weekly Bible study. A celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel at PCPC at 4124 Oak Lawn Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75219 at 11am on Thursday, December 22nd. The family requests donations be sent to PCPC in lieu of flowers.
