Barbara Venita Matte, 65, of Bridge City passed away on September 28, 2103 at her home. She was born in Orange, Texas on March 10, 1948 to the late Elmo Baker and Ruby Venita Monroe Milam.

A graveside will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Hargrave officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the graveside service at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Douglas Matte. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Matte of Bridge City and Douglas Matte, Jr. of Michigan; her sister Angela McCoppin of Coldspring; her brother, Stephen Baker Milam of Galveston; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was more like my mother than a sister, the first 10 years of my life. She would give anything just for a little of time to spend with loved ones. Her heart was so full of love. Her children were her whole world. She loved gospel music especially the Gaithers. She loved the Lord.
