Barbara Tate

1944 ∼ 2024

Barbara Tate

Barbara Tate, was called home on November 3, 2024, in Nederland, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on July 28, 1944, in Port Arthur, Texas, Barbara was a vibrant spirit who made all those around her feel special. With a personality that shone brightly, she was indeed the life of the party. Adventurous and full of energy, Barbara embraced life with open arms. A person who believed in honesty, she was not one to sugar coat her thoughts, always expressing herself candidly. Her youthful heart and fun-loving nature meant she was always on the go, filling her days with activities rather than sitting at home.

Barbara had a diverse range of interests that brought joy to her life. She loved music, which often provided the soundtrack to her vibrant gatherings. Crafting was another passion that allowed her creativity to flourish, making unique pieces for her family and friends. Shopping and chocolate,  held a special place in her heart, and uncovering hidden treasures.  She loved anything free.

Barbara was a devoted wife and loving mother.  Barbara is survived by her daughter, Stacy Tate and Ken Hale, of Lumberton; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her brother, Roger McGee and his wife Cheri. Their lives will forever be enriched by the love and adventures shared with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence McGee and Jesse McGee; her spouse, Larry Tate; her son, Chris; and seven siblings. Each of these beloved family members played a significant role in shaping Barbara's life, and she carried their memories with her as she embraced each day.

Barbara Tate will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her adventurous spirit, loving nature, and unforgettable presence have left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone at Holland Place Assisted living for caring and loving our mother.

Barbara and her family moved into the house across the street from us on 3rd Ave when we were kids.My Maiden name was Garrett back then. Us kids would play good one day then fight the next. Soon we all grew up and my mom and Roberta were very close to Barbara. When my parents passed my son moved into the house and he soon became very close to her. Roberta would ride her bike to visit with Barbara from time to time. And Barbara would visit her often even when she was in the hospital, the whole family came to see Roberta. Barbara would send me the funniest videos on messenger all the time .really gonna miss that.Barbara was a sweet soul and will be missed by many .I know my family loved her dearly.Hardest thing I had to tell Roberta . Stacy we are here for you always and forever. You have our love, hugs, and deepest condolences
