Barney Curt Choate, 65, of Bridge City, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Choate Fork Ranch. Barney was born on June 18, 1952, to the late James Norwood Choate and Hattie Louise Norsworthy Choate in Port Arthur. He was an instrument technician for DuPont in Orange and was employed with DuPont for 30 years.
If you are reading this you know how much Barney enjoyed hunting, fishing, the great outdoors and a good “story”, which may or may not be true or exaggerated. He is now flashing his infectious smile down on us from heaven. He is sharing his stories and spreading laughter with his new-found friends and loved ones who reached heaven before him. He will be dearly missed by many, but he wouldn’t want us to be sad. He would want us to take a minute to remember a story he told us that made us laugh, so we can replace our sadness and pain with a smile and laugh.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Wendi Schiro and husband, Antony of San Antonio; son, Caleb Choate and wife, Norma of San Antonio; grandchild, Gavin Schiro; sister, Bonnie Landry and husband, Joe of Little Cypress. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank you for all of the love and prayers you have been sending our way. May God Bless You All!
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bobby Contreras officiating, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
