Beatrice Wilkerson, 90, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on June 17, 2014 in Frisco, Texas. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Levingston Funeral with Pastor Phil Sigman of Central Baptist Church, Port Arthur officiating. Graveside service will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park also in Groves. Bea was born in Port Arthur, Texas to Fred and Nettie Martin on August 22, 1923. After graduating from Livingston High School, she moved back to Port Arthur. She later married Jasper Wilkerson on June 2, 1946. She worked for Port Arthur Home Laundry, Merle Norman Cosmetics, and Dryden's Department Store. Bea also served as a precinct judge and lead precinct judge for many years during voting periods in Port Arthur. She was very involved in Central Baptist Church. She taught children's Sunday School, was the secretary for the Rachel Sunday School Class, and volunteered in various church activities. She was also a volunteer for the Port Arthur Museum of the Gulf Coast. When Bea wasn't volunteering or serving in her church, she was cooking and baking. She was known for having the best chocolate and caramel pies! Bea also made frequent trips to Southern California to visit her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Bea was a resident of Port Arthur for over 50 years. In 2009, she moved to the North Dallas area to be closer to her family so they could help care for her. Bea is preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Wilkerson; sister, Pauline Camp; and brother, Fred Martin. She is survived by daughter, Georgiann Wilkerson Cuneo (and husband, Bob) of Frisco, Texas; sister, Mary Martin Harper (and husband, Johnny) of Titusville, Florida; brother, James Martin (and wife, Michelle) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; two grandchildren, Erin Cuneo Gordon (and husband, Jonathan) of Frisco, Texas and Bobby Cuneo of San Pedro, California; and two great-grandchildren, Claire and Cora Gordon; and a number of nieces and nephews. At her request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Central Baptist Church, 4545 Highway 73, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. The family of Beatrice Wilkerson wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the many friends who supported them during this time.
