Ben C. "Curley" Gann, Jr. Ben C. "Curley" Gann, Jr., 83, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 with his family by his side. Curley was born May 3, 1930 in Groesbeck, Texas to Carrine Rochelle and Ben C. Gann, Sr. Retired from the National Maritime Union, he traveled the world as a Merchant Marine, but called Port Arthur his home. Growing up in a boys home, family was not common. Curley married only once to the love of his life, Dorothy Nicholas Gann, who preceded him in death. He called her "Baby" and honored her with 46 years of blissful marriage. He enjoyed dominos, cards, shuffleboard, washers or most likely the competition and challenges from friends and family, but most of all just enjoyed being part of a family. He was a member of Procter Baptist Church. Curley was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Nicholas Gann, daughter, Sandra Daws Carter, brother, John Gann and sister, Lucille Lancaster. Survivors include his two sons, Lewis Michael Daws, and wife, Roxanne of Port Neches, Keith Alan Daws, Sr. and wife, Karol of Port Arthur, one brother, Jim Gann of Humble, TX; six grandchildren, Kelly Adams and husband, Charles, Jr., Nicole Klingensmith and husband, Jason, Jason Daws, Ryan Daws, Keith "Buddy" Daws, Jr. and wife, Julia and Christopher Daws and wife, Jamie; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2013 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Dr. Rick Erwin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Procter Baptist Church.
