Beth Lazenby, a dedicated educator and legal professional, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on September 6, 1944 in Jasper, Texas, Beth led a remarkable life filled with passion for teaching and law.
Beth's career was marked by her commitment to education and justice. She taught at Port Neches Groves High School before embarking on a successful tenure in various private law practices. Her journey culminated with retirement from the State of Texas Ninth Court of Appeals, where she served diligently for several years.
A proud alumna, Beth attended Baylor University, the University of Texas, and Lamar University. She furthered her education at Bate's College of Law at the University of Houston Law Center from 1973 to 1975, earning her Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Beth was known for her love of reading, tending to her garden, and culinary skills in preparing elaborate dishes.
Beth is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Charles Lazenby of Port Arthur, Texas; daughter, Liz Martinez and son-in-law, Ricky of Beaumont, Texas; brother, John Collins and sister-in-law, Sally of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Scott Garrison and Iris Sarmiento; great-granddaughter, Ila Garrison; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Cody Collins and Onie LeLee Forse Collins, and her brother, Sam Forse Collins.
A gathering of Beth's family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Melancon~Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland. A Celebration of Life service will follow immediately after the gathering at 3:00 p.m., also at the funeral Home.
Beth Lazenby will be fondly remembered for her unwavering dedication to her students, clients, and loved ones. May she rest in peace.
