Betty Jean Foret, 84, of Nederland, Texas., passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Betty was born on April 5, 1933 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to the late, Hillary O’Connor and Lezo Barron O’Connor. Betty was a seamstress in Nederland for fifty plus years. She served as Senior Vice President of the VFW Post 4820 in Port Neches. She had countless hours of volunteering for the Houston area VA Hospitals. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She devoted her time for her family. One of her hobbies was to have a homecooked meal for her husband and family. Betty was the rock of her family and she kept everyone in line. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her loving husband of 69 years, Chester Foret of Nederland; daughters, Peggy Gomez and husband, Paul of Nederland and June Burnaman of Nederland; son, Billy Foret and wife, Carol of Nederland; grandchildren, Kim Gomez, Paul Anthony Gomez, David Foret, Travis Foret, Brian Burnaman, Brandon Foret, Jenna Burnaman Dean and Victoria Gracian; great-grandchildren, Skylar Gomez, Bryce Gomez, Parker Gomez, Matthew Burnaman, Addie Foret, Valerie Gracian, Julian Gracian and MaKenna Grace Foret.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her son, Bobby Foret and two sisters, Rose Foret and Ethelyn Pratt.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20th, 2017 with a rosary to begin at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, December 21, 2017 with Father John Hughes, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
