Betty Carol Lake

Betty Carol Lake, 84, of Nederland, Texas passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, in Port Arthur, Texas. Betty was born on December 9, 1938 in Greenville, Texas to Vivian and Hazel Harris.
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches. She was a wonderful cook and a devoted caregiver to her husband, Ernest. Betty enjoyed baking and making lap blankets for people in wheelchairs. She retired from Walmart after thirteen years of service and worked briefly for Channel 4.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel Ray Harris and Vivian Pauline (Woods) Harris; children, Debbie Bertrand and Eric Bertrand; brothers, Raymond Harris, Jerry Harris, David Irvin Harris and Charlie Harris.
Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her loving husband of four years, Ernest Lake of Nederland, Texas; children, Joe Hebert of Lumberton, Texas; Sharon Kasper and her husband, Michael; Cathy Hardin; Jeffery Lake and his wife, Sara; Christina Bergeron and her husband, Charles; sister, Kathy Harris; brothers, C.A. Harris and his wife, Juanita; Bobby Harris and his wife, Linda; Willy Harris; Danny Harris and his wife, Debbie and Jimmy Harris.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2023, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A celebration of Betty’s Life will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
