Betty Joyce Luquette Libersat, 90, of Groves, Texas passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Betty was born December 26, 1929 in Abbeville, Louisiana to the late Sevengier and Ida Luquette. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Bettys passion in life was cooking for others; she was especially known for her delicious crab cakes and fruit cakes. Betty was a kind and loving person who never met a stranger and will be missed by all.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Sevengier Luquette and Ida Hebert Luquette; husband, Clarence “Boo” Libersat; brothers, Raywood Luquette and Junior Luquette. Those left to cherish Ms. Betty are her children, Ricky Libersat and his wife, Juli of Orange, TX., Jimmy Libersat of Bridge City, TX., Becky Frost of Groves, TX., and Terry Libersat of Groves, TX.; brother, Curtis Luquette and his wife, Mavis of Abbeville, LA.; sister, Ada Castille of Kaplan, LA.; grandchildren, Aaron, Brie, Melissa, Jamie, Brandy, Jarren, Johnathan, Jena and Jordan; great grandchildren, Keagain, Levi, Tanner, Kayden and Gavin; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the services to begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 10, 2020, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers; Jimmy Libersat, Troy Luquette, Billy Luquette, Jamie Marshall, Jarren Libersat and Keith Siebenthall; and honorary pallbearer, Chris Castille.
