I had the privilege of Betty Jo calling me her second son. My family moved in next door to the Sanders family when I was 9 years old. Since Billy and I were both only children, we grew up like brothers and became best friends. The best thing was, when we got upset with each other, we could go to our own homes. My parents were blessed to be friends and next-door neighbors with Betty Jo and Rex for nearly 55 years. They had the greatest friendship and watched out for each other for many years. They did many things together like camping, playing cards, bowling, hunting, rooting for the Cowboys, rooting for the Astros, and serving the Lord at the First Methodist Church in Nederland. Betty Jo was the nicest person I have ever known. She always had a smile on her face, was full of love, and always cared for others. I am thankful she is now re-united with her family and her favorite neighbors. We are praying for the Sanders family as you mourn the loss of an awesome Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother! With all our love, The Hale family

I will always remember Aunt Betty Jo as one of the strong and loving women in our family. Not only a beautiful woman on the outside, she had a true heart for others. She was always supportive and encouraging to me. Just feel so blessed to have been a part of the legacy of such amazing women in our family. I cannot take credit for this, but it is a post from STEVEN KNOTT...thx Steven - you have captured my Mom's Love and generosity as our family grew up around her. We lost a good one today. My sweet Betty Sanders went to a much better place. So happy we got to see her a couple of weeks ago. Many Saturday nights staying up late eating peanuts in Dr. pepper watching Elvis movies, along with more holidays than I can recall. Easy Sunday afternoons filled with great food, finished with homemade ice cream and fresh peaches/strawberries, impeccably wrapped gifts and a southern sweetness you just don’t find any longer. Oh, and her Cowboys…and Astros…and her Longhorns. We love you Aunt Jo. Now go tell Uncle Rex, Paw Paw Raymond and your sister Suzy Q we send our love. They have been waiting for you.

Very sad to hear of Betty's passing, although she was a faithful Christian who lived her faith to the fullest. I loved working with her at the hospital. I will miss her.
