Betty Spurlock

Betty Spurlock, 88, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at her residence. Born on September 26, 1936, in Port Arthur, Betty lived a life characterized by her love for family, animals, and the community around her.

A dedicated professional, Betty retired after 30 years as a medical administrator at Dr. Shobassy's office, where she touched many lives with her warm and caring nature. Beyond her career, she was an avid animal lover, especially fond of dogs, and often found joy in feeding the ducks in her front yard. Betty had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, which included square dancing and taking cruises, enriching her life with various experiences. Her passion for working in the yard was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and affinity for the beauty of nature.

Betty's life was greatly enriched by her family. She is survived by her stepchildren, Randy Spurlock and his wife, Sandra of Edmonds, WA; Pam Wilson of Port Neches; and Ted Spurlock and his wife, Patricia of Columbus, OH; brother-in-law Chester Clark of Port Arthur; nephew Steven Clark and his wife Sharon of Lumberton; nephew Michael Clark and his wife Patty of Lumberton. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Carrie Wilson, Chris Spurlock, Allie Spurlock, Diego Robledo, Ian Spurlock, and Evan Spurlock, great-grandchildren, Magnus Digennaro, Graham Robledo, and Eloise Robledo, as well as her five great nephews & nieces, and three great-great nephews & nieces.

Betty was a lifelong member of Methodist Temple, embodying the values of her faith and the importance of community in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and James Summersgill, her husband, Ted Spurlock, and her sister, Mary Alice Clark.

Her family and friends will remember Betty for her loving heart, her enthusiasm for life, and the many memories shared together. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Betty's life during visitation on February 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, both occurring at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves located at 5601 39th St. The interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
