Betty Marie Whitehead

Betty Marie Whitehead, 81, of Nederland, Texas passed away November 4, 2013 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. She was born in Colorado City, Texas on April 21, 1932 to the late Thomas Asbury and Minnie Mae McCarty Driggars. She retired from Nederland I.S.D. where she was in the maintenance department.
A funeral service will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Young officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the funeral home.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Mary Ann Whitehead; 3 brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her daughters, Rose Sweeney of Nederland and Vicky Darby of Beaumont; her son, Herbert H. Whitehead, Jr. of Port Arthur; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jerry Driggars of Fort Worth.
