Beverly “Billie” Hebert, 85, of Groves, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at her residence in Groves. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on April 20, 1936 to the late, Armond Anthony “A.A.” Besse and Gertrude Blanchard Besse.
There was a warmth and sincerity to Billie’s presence that made a person feel effortlessly loved and at home. As animated as they come, she loved sharing stories and making memories with her friends and family. She deeply treasured her sisters, cousins, and sisters-in-law who doubled as her circle of closest friends. Many of them together enjoyed being ladies of the Red Hat Society where they colorfully and boldly celebrated aging. Ivanhoe was a haven she shared with her kids, grandkids, and extended family where various generations together enjoyed camping, swimming, picnicking, canoeing, and other lakeside adventures. Billie loved the rich Cajun culture of her family and especially enjoyed cooking and baking with and for those she loved and saving and swapping recipes. She spent countless hours quilting, crocheting, and knotting chord into rosaries, humming, praying, and singing softly over her work. She shared many of those rosaries with friends in Renew, ACTS, and other prayer and bible study groups that she attended regularly. She sang in the choir of several churches across the Diocese of Beaumont and in the diocesan choir. Her lifelong faith and participation in the Catholic Church were an anchor and life source that grounded her in herself and the Divine. Billie is remembered as a steadfast and unconditionally loving mother and wife; a warm, gentle, and nurturing grandmother; and a caring and fun-loving aunt, cousin, and friend.
Those left to cherish Billie’s memory include her loving husband of 66 years, Dezire Hebert of Groves; Son, Tim Hebert and his wife, Angie of Port Neches; daughters, Denise Hebert of Groves, Desiree Hebert of The Woodlands and Maria Hebert of Orange; grandchildren, Shelby Hebert, Elyse Zepeda, Karissa Zepeda, Morgan Hohmann and Laurel Hohmann.
In addition to her parents, Armond Anthony “A.A.” Besse and Gertrude Blanchard Besse, Billie is preceded in death by her sisters, Myrlene Clark and Joy Romero; and her daughter-in-law, Cathy Burge Hebert.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you prayerfully consider making a donation in memory of Billie to a cause or charity you care about.
