Billie Louise Bourgeois

April 4, 1928 — November 2, 2014

Billie Louise Bourgeois of Port Arthur passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014. Billie was born April 4, 1928 in Vernon Parish, Louisiana to Marion Frances Musgrove and Margaret Lurettie Hodges. Her generous spirit was fueled by her love of giving to others. Billie wanted everyone around her to enjoy life. She was known for her style and sparkle. She had a compassionate and nurturing nature and wanted to take care of everyone who was hurt or in need. Billie's devotion to her daughters and their families was limitless. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving, devoted husband, Murphy E. Bourgeois; her brother, Leonard L. Musgrove; and her sisters, Alberta Marie (Johnnie) Odneal and Reba Eloise (Teddy) Rader. She is survived by her sister, Frankie Sue Morris of Port Neches; her nieces, Beverly Dawn Morris and her husband, Gary Morris, of Thornton, Texas and Judy Rader Martinez of Laguna Woods, California; her great-nieces, Amber Browne and Shanda Bailey, and her great-nephew, Clint Morris, and their families; and the father and stepmother of her daughters, Harry and Virginia Baker of Colmesneil, Texas. The joy of Billie's life was her daughters, Starlene Baker Colicher, her husband Wayne Colicher, and her grand-dogs, Tai and Kam, of Port Arthur; Tara Baker Shockley and her husband, John Shockley, of Houston; and her beloved grandson, Graham Baker Shockley of Waco. Billie was especially proud of Graham's accomplishments and range of interests, including his love of music and science, curiosity about life, sense of humor, and loving character. Her family would like to express gratitude to her care givers at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Billie will always be part of our lives, and we will forever love her. There will be a private burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in her name to one of Billie's favorite charities: Covenant House of Texas, 1111 Lovett Blvd., Houston, TX 77006; www.covenanthousetx.org .
