Billie Joyce Coussou, an embodiment of unwavering faith, devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, adoring grandmother, and a friend to many, passed away at home on January 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and spiritual devotion.

Billie was born on August 10, 1930 as the sixth child in a family of eight born in DeQuincy, Louisiana, to Mary Ellen and JM LeBleu. She found immense joy in gardening, creating beautiful quilts, sewing, cooking for her family, visiting with friends and neighbors, reading her bible, and enthusiastically sharing her deep love for the Lord with others.

She is survived by daughters Karen Hollier and Janeen Phillips, son Glenn and his wife Linda Coussou, daughter Joyce and her husband Rick Satava, grandchildren Alissa Parker Gonzales, Brooke Fox, Cody Parker, Tiffany Jennings, Kaycee Baker, Misty Ferguson, Kara Booth, Shane Coussou, John Coussou, and Kelsey Buckman, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Billie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, siblings, her loving husband of 59 years, Elmer “Tootie” Coussou, daughter Carrie Ann Parker, and grandson Craig Jennings. She is now joyously reunited with them in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Her life was enriched by special friendships, notably Janice and Joe Heger and Debbie Mize, who stood by her side for many decades. In her final days, Billie received exceptional care from Best Hospice, Coral Cobert, who provided loving nursing care, and Gwen Ardoin, whose gentle and respectful attention ensured comfort and peace.

Billie Joyce Coussou’s life was a testament to her faith, love, and the power of family. Her spirit, teachings, and memories will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She has found eternal peace and joy in the loving embrace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My love and prayers for the family of Billie and close friends. Billie was an amazing woman and it was my pleasure to be able to stay in touch with her throughout her life and mine. She started out as a dear neighbor who grew to be much more. I feel I have known Billie for most of my life. She was a dear friend of my late Mother, Irene Thompson Farley and was such a loving comfort to me after the death of my mother. Billie could always be called on to pray for me and my siblings as well as our families. She was a lifeline to me more than once and I cherished her love and prayers. I never spoke to her that she did not have a spiritual challenge for me - something she wanted me to research in the word of God. It was a sheer delight to speak with her. She loved to talk about the Lord. He was truly the love of her life. There were many times when I felt like I was holding on by a thread and the phone would ring and Billie would be on the other end of the phone with a scripture and a word of encouragement. I can only imagine the glorious reception she had when she arrived in heaven. I’m sure that she was bursting with joy to see Jesus and then all the loved ones and friends who had gone before. Now she is truly home in the arms of Jesus. …… I will miss her dearly but am so happy for her to be with Jesus. My love and prayers extend to the family and friends of this precious woman. May you receive Gods love and comfort in the days ahead. I love you, Billie

Oh, precious, wonderful, loving Bill. How do we go on without you? That "right now word from the Lord," which was always in your mouth kept us focused on God's direction for us all. You taught us to live life from and on the Word, scripture. It is our guide and protection and comfort. You lived as you led. You loved us all as we were, and faithfully prayed for God to heal, help, guide and correct us as needed. You never presented yourself as having reached that high calling in Christ; you only taught us that it is the only thing to run the race for: to grow up in the image of Christ. You are the most balanced of human beings, a brilliant mind who challenged us to be the best we can be, and encouraging character and excellence in all we strive for. Your house was full of family, friends and fun! The yard was flowered with children--both your own and all the neighbors'. Generations of us regaled with laughter at each other's antics and foibles over coffee in the den. You enveloped us all in cherished comradery and love. Your door was always open, and more than that, we were always welcome. What treasured moments we have had, in that where you were, wherever you were, your heart was our home. God, I thank you for the gift of Bill. You gave us Your best--we know You took her Home to enjoy her there with You. We look forward to praising You with her, dearest Father in Heaven.
