Billy Ray Brown, 89, of Groves, Texas passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018. He was born in Clarksville, Arkansas on January 9, 1929 to the late Philip Ames Brown and Bessie Johnson Brown. Billy served his country proudly in the U. S. Army and was a member of Nederland Avenue Church of Christ. Billy served as a self-employed cement mason for 25 years.

Those left to cherish Billy’s memory includes his wife, Betty Brown of Groves; his daughter, Patricia Sims and her husband, Keith of Milton, Florida; his grandsons, Michael Betar and Matthew Betar; his great-grandson, Tanner Betar Roy; and his sister, Sharon Grantham and her husband, Sach of Toledo Bend. Billy is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and a sister.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. Michael Williams officiant. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
