Billy Sherwood Goodwin, 82, of Port Neches, Texas passed away September 6, 2021. He was born in Houston, Texas on May 21, 1939 to the late Lee Goodwin and Verda Gilchrist Goodwin. Billy was a graduate of the PNG class of 1958. He retired from Ameripol Synpol as a production trainer after 38 years of service. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord Jesus and a member of Central Baptist Church, Port Neches for 60 years where he also served as a deacon. He never missed an opportunity to help others and always carried money in his pockets because he knew there would be someone who would need it. Billy was one of the most generous persons in the world.
Those left to cherish Billy’s memory are his wife of 63 years, Barbara Seaux Goodwin; his brother Jerry Goodwin and his wife Joyce; his daughter, Ronda Guillot and her husband Buddy, his grandson, Cory Goodwin and his wife Renee; his granddaughters, April Gonzales and her husband David, Heather Stewart and her husband Tyler, Kacee Goodwin and Luis Govea, Holli Kramlick and her husband Matthew, and Amy Guillot. He had 12 great grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews that adored him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Verda Gilchrist; his daughter, Karen Goodwin; his son, Darren Goodwin, and his brother Glen Goodwin. His hope was that the last thing anyone heard from his lips was him praising Jesus and he did praise Him to the very end. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Central Baptist Church in Port Neches on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Central Baptist Church in Port Neches on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Larry Delcambre officiant. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Arrangements are under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nedeland.
