Billy Sherwood Goodwin

1939 ∼ 2021

Billy Sherwood Goodwin, 82, of Port Neches, Texas passed away September 6, 2021. He was born in Houston, Texas on May 21, 1939 to the late Lee Goodwin and Verda Gilchrist Goodwin. Billy was a graduate of the PNG class of 1958. He retired from Ameripol Synpol as a production trainer after 38 years of service. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord Jesus and a member of Central Baptist Church, Port Neches for 60 years where he also served as a deacon. He never missed an opportunity to help others and always carried money in his pockets because he knew there would be someone who would need it. Billy was one of the most generous persons in the world.

Those left to cherish Billy’s memory are his wife of 63 years, Barbara Seaux Goodwin; his brother Jerry Goodwin and his wife Joyce; his daughter, Ronda Guillot and her husband Buddy, his grandson, Cory Goodwin and his wife Renee; his granddaughters, April Gonzales and her husband David, Heather Stewart and her husband Tyler, Kacee Goodwin and Luis Govea, Holli Kramlick and her husband Matthew, and Amy Guillot. He had 12 great grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews that adored him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Verda Gilchrist; his daughter, Karen Goodwin; his son, Darren Goodwin, and his brother Glen Goodwin. His hope was that the last thing anyone heard from his lips was him praising Jesus and he did praise Him to the very end. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Central Baptist Church in Port Neches on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Central Baptist Church in Port Neches on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., Rev. i was a young man when i ist met billy. we worked in the sbr lab for bf goodrich. he was always kind and a gentle person. he worked hard and never gossiped about anything or anyone. it hurt me to hear of his passing and may god be with his family. most of the old foreman and employees have since passed on, those days are now just a memory.. eventually someone will be reading about me, i guess thats life.

Billy is one of the greatest men that I have had the honor of getting to know. He and his precious wife, Barbara and his children are such a wonderful family. I feel so fortunate to have them in my family. There will never be another "Billy". God has blessed us all just to know and love him. I will certainly miss him.
