Secondary Education in Port Neches suffered a great loss when Mr. Briggs transitioned to the private sector. He was an amazing Math teacher who found a way to make his subject "relevant' and not something that you just had to take to get into college. I couldn't wait to get to his class knowing that whether I got the right answer or the wrong one, he would never critique or criticize you in front of your peers. He had a remarkable sense of humor and seemed to truly enjoy his time with each and every student. Knowing that, you always felt like you had a Teacher who cared about your successes and your failures. Godspeed Mr. Briggs and Thank You for helping to prepare so many of us for life.

Bob was my Algebra 2 teacher in high school and my most loved memory was instructions he gave on the first test. He invented "phone a friend" way back in 1972. He told us we could buy one answer from a friend and we could ask him on 1 question if the answer was right or wrong. He kept a running banter as we turned the tests in, too. If you finished first, you were the "world's smartest human!" Ha! I count myself lucky to have so many great memories of my friend as he was also my boss that summer at the Groves Pool. My condolences to Pat, Chad, Colleen, Lisa and all his loved ones on the loss of a funny, smart, caring, and beautiful soul.
