Bob Smith, age 81, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at his residence. He was born on August 18, 1933 in Port Arthur to the late Claude E. Smith and Clara Bell Smith.

Bob was an Elder at the Stonegate Church of Christ, and he served a short time in the United States Air Force. He was well known and liked in the community. Bob was a Boy Scout leader, and also Past President of Rotary. Bob was the owner and operator of Bob Smith Air Conditioning for 42 years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Belva Gwen Amos Smith of Nederland; sons, Andrew Smith and his wife, Susan of Nederland, and Mark E. Smith and his wife, Margaret of Nederland; sister, Lorene Griffin of Lake Jackson; grandsons, Bobby Neil Smith, James B. Smith, Kenneth L. Smith, Randy Beresford, Paul P. Smith, and Michael D. Smith; granddaughter, Magdalena Smith; 6 great-granddaughters; 5 great-grandsons; 8 nephews; and one niece. He is preceded in death by his father, Claude E. Smith; mother, Clara Bell Smith; brother, Fred A. Smith; and son, Robert B. Smith.

Funeral Services will be held at Memorial Church of Christ in Port Arthur, 2525 Aero, on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Evangelist Jeff Trahan officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be held on Friday evening, July 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
