Bobby Linn Glaze

Bobby Linn Glaze, 77, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at his residence in Nederland, Texas.

Bobby was born on March 17, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas to Alda Oliver Glaze and Lonzie Glaze. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson in 1965 and then went into the Marine Corp. Bobby worked at Texaco for a few years before going to work at Elliot Turbo Machinery for twenty-six years before retiring. He loved to hunt and fish and was always known for his car in his younger years on Gulfway Drive in Port Arthur. Bobby had one of the nicest and fastest cars on the “Drag” as people would refer to Gulfway Drive back in the old Port Arthur days; which was called the “Cajun Stripper”. He continued to go to car shows in his later years and had many friends he would see there and continue to be his friends now. Bobby loved his family dearly. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-two years, Patricia Arens Glaze of Nederland; sons, Michael Glaze and his wife, Tammy of Port Neches and Jeffrey Glaze and his wife Bambi of Nederland; grandchildren, Lane Glaze, Payton Glaze, Collin Glaze, Kitti Broussard and Xander Glaze; great grandchildren, Felix Broussard and Kat Broussard.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Lonzie and Alda Glaze; his sister, Barbara Glaze Morgan.

A gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland. People who have Antique Cars are encouraged to bring their cars to the visitation “In Honor of Bobby Linn Glaze” in his memory. Private Cremation Services will be held at a later date.

Today, almost one year after his passing, I suddenly thought about Bobby. I saw a tall thin person with a cowboy hat speaking with a southern accent. It triggered a memory of Bobby. I decided to look him up on Google. I was sad to learn he was no longer with us. I met Bobby during a 3-week course in Elliott Janette in 1980. I was the Dutch guy that had just started work for Elliott Mexico and it was only my second visit to the US. I was completely “lost” within this, for me, new cultural environment. It was only Bobby that picked up on that, he took me under his wing. I remember his calm, confident and sociable personality which resonated with everybody in that group. After the course he invited me to stay at his home in Port Arthur for a long weekend. He gave me boots, jeans and a hat so I would “blend in”. His mom cooked gumbo for me. He took me to a “rowdy” Saturday night dancing and drinking place. What an eye-opening southern hospitality experience. The next year Bobby visited my home in Mexico once, and after that we never saw each other again. But I will never forget my southern friend. Rest in peace. From: Erik Van Olst

The Best Man in my wedding and a dear long time friend. We spent many a day hunting and fishing and just enjoying each other’s company. I love you Bob and will forever cherish the time we spent together.
