Brenda Dowden Chance, a beloved resident of Nederland, Texas, was born on August 5, 1943, and peacefully passed away on March 29, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas. Brenda was a pillar of strength and love in the lives of her family and friends, and she will be profoundly missed.

A devoted wife to her husband of 46 years, Ernest C. Chance, Sr., Brenda cherished her role within her family as a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Hardy and her husband, Eugene of Nederland; her son, Jim Richardson and his wife, Deborah from Norfolk, Virginia; stepsons; Ernest Chance, Jr. of Beaumont and Howard Chance of Richmond, Texas; and stepdaughter, Debbie Shearin and her husband, Dean of Huffman, Texas. Brenda also had the great joy of loving her grandchildren; Shelby Fontenot, Hunter Fontenot, Dustin Richardson, Jarvis Richardson, Danny Allen, David Allen, Madison Chance, Hailey Chance, and Christopher Chance, along with seven great-grandchildren.

Brenda's personality was as vibrant as her spirit. She was proud to be a member of Fellowship Church in Nederland, where she nurtured her faith and created lasting memories with her church family. Her love for pets was well-known and added warmth to her life, reflecting her compassionate and nurturing character.

Throughout her life, Brenda was a faithful friend and confidante, celebrated for her unwavering support and kindness towards those who were fortunate enough to call her a friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Virginia Dowden, along with her brother, Benny Dowden, whose memories will remain cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.

Visitation will be held at Fellowship Church Nederland, located at 1315 S. 27th Street, Nederland, Texas 77627, on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. The funeral service to honor Brenda's life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Fellowship Church beginning at 10:00a.m. with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

A reception will follow the graveside service at Fellowship Church in Nederland.
