A Life Remembered
Obituary
Brenda Jane Melancon, 59, of Kountze, formerly of Nederland, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born October 10, 1955 in Port Arthur, the first child to Earl and Anite (Bourque) Juneau. She was married to her forever love, Billy, for forty-two years.
Brenda loved her family, her home, her horse, the Hill Country of Texas and its beautiful wildflowers, and the outdoors in general. She had an unquenchable thirst for learning and loved to read. If she had a question about anything, she researched and studied it until she found the answer. She was a source of help and encouragement to all, and the caretaker of countless people who crossed her path throughout the years. Never one to focus on herself, she was adamant that she didn’t want a fuss made about her. If you were not aware of Brenda’s illness, then her plan was a success! She lived life on her own terms, yet always put the needs of others first, and her smile could light up a room.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Billy Melancon of Kountze; sons, Duane Melancon of Kountze and Craig Melancon and wife, Carisa of Silsbee; grandchildren, Colby, Chloe, Kiley and Jacob; her mother, Anite Juneau of Nederland; cousin Harry Hebert of Kountze, whom she cared for as a son; brothers, Mike Juneau of Nederland, Don Juneau and wife, Lisa and Chris Juneau and wife, Paula; sister, Sharon Williams and husband, Mike, all of Orange; and numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Earl Juneau.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Scriptural Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Brenda’s memory to the Hardin County Angels, P.O. Box 1150 Kountze, TX 77625.

I truly truly seek God for your grief. I always will remember Mrs. Brenda giving me constant encouragement and wisdom. She had a beautiful close knit family who her world revolved around. Most especially her grandchildren. A very busy women who meant business but with a big giving heart. Earths loss but Heavens gain. I honestly truly learned so much from Brenda and this family. God Bless you in your grief.

Today is the first day of my new normal. I don't like it. There are things that need to be done that either you or we took care of. I AM LOST. Somehow we will get through this. I told you at the very end that your job here was done, and what a job you did for me and everyone and everything else. I told you that the boys and I would be ok. It will take some time but we will get through this. I tried doing everything that you wanted. I tried keeping socks on your feet and not let you suffer. We tried letting your journey be yours. I hope it worked out for you. One thing is that you wanted your funeral to be by invitation only. You never gave me the invitation list. We only invited people that loved you or that were there to support your family. WOW. Packed house. Didn't know. Save the chewing out till we meet again. Maybe you will have cooled off by then. When I first seen you in 1972, when you pulled through Whataburger, on the drag in Nederland, in the big green station wagon, I really did fall in love with you. I have loved you every since and I will love you until we are together again. My love, I will be talking to you daily. I will need your guidance doing some things, like with the animals. I hope that everything that I do from now on is ok with you. I know I will do some things wrong but, I need to learn. Till we meet again. Tell mom, dad and Brenda thanks for the rainbows. They were special. Tell everyone we love and miss them and that we will see them soon. Save me a seat in the front. Love you forever. Billy

I spent many great weekends and after school days with the Melancon family growing up. My grandfather and her father were best friends and I became great friends with Duane and Craig. I always remember Brenda with a smile unless we were up to no good. She was always a hard working lady who kept us busy. I will always remember and cherish the memories and the times I shared growing up with the Melancons. Jeff Weyler
