Brenda Young

Brenda Young

Brenda Young, a beloved member of her community, passed away on December 4, 2024, in Groves, Texas, at the age of 77. Born on November 11, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas, she was a cherished daughter of Harvey and Evelyn Richard, who have preceded her in death.

Brenda devoted her professional life to serving others in her role as an Admitting Clerk at St. Mary Hospital. Her commitment to her work and the compassion she showed to patients and their families left a lasting impact on the community she served.  She loved to volunteer for Harbor Hospice helping with Administrative duties and just spending a few minutes of her time visiting people.

A woman of simple pleasures, Brenda found joy in romance novels, word puzzle books, and spending time watching television. These hobbies not only entertained her but also enriched her life, allowing her to escape into the enchanting worlds of her favorite stories.

Brenda attended Port Arthur College, where she cultivated her passion for learning and fostered lasting relationships. Her academic journey and her warm personality endeared her to many, creating an affectionate network of friends and acquaintances.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 24 years, Garland Ray Young, and her loving daughters, Kelli Dunn and Karen Albright, along with her son-in-law, David. The light of Brenda's life also shone brightly through her grandchildren: Andrew, Taylor, and William, who brought her immense joy and pride.

A graveside service will be held in her honor at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, located at 618 Block Street, Port Neches, TX 77651, on December 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.

Brenda’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Brenda is my mom and I couldn't have asked for more. I don't care what I threw at her she always stood by me and loved me. I just want everyone to know I had the absolute best and nothing and no one can ever take that from me. She loved me enough to last a million lifetimes.
