Bud "Albert" Lee Richard

Bud “Albert” Lee Richard, 78, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. Bud was born November 22, 1942 in Nederland, Texas to Camille and Ada Richard. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Groves Knights of Columbus #3491. Bud was a referee official for football for over 40 years. He worked for Texaco as a pipefitter and later retired from Calabrian Corporation. After Bud retired, he took up collecting cans to pass the time away.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Camille Richard, Jr. and Ada Marie Campbell Richard; brothers, Lester Joseph Richard, Joseph Camille Richard, Filo Richard, James Donald Richard, and his twin brother, Allen Lee Richard.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 31 years, BJ Richard of Port Arthur, TX; children, Brandie Richard, Ronnie Richard and Carrie Hoefer; grandchildren, Kade, Trey, Rayburn, Tyler, Victoria, Rhoni, Taylor, Jereomy, Nick and Jenny; great grandchildren, Rainner and Destiny; sisters, Ester Mae Lemaire of Kaplan, LA., and Mary Lois LeJeune of Bridge City, TX.; beloved furry friend, Amanda Lee; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Friday, November 27, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, with full Military Honors to be provided by the Southeast Texas Veteran’s Service Group.

Due to Coronavirus-19 we request that friends and relatives practice social distancing while attending Bud’s visitation and service. All guests are required to wear a face mask before entering Melancon’s Funeral Home.

I have many hilarious memories of Albert as a young child into adulthood. He is such a kind and gentle man and I pray Christ receives his spirit with the reward he truly deserves. His presence on the football field was amazing and he impacted every player and coach. Rest in peace my friend.

I remember bud from Ivanhoe he would stop by my dad's Dwight Adams house to visit..with his Fish Hat on always a smile and there to make you laugh.he will be missed.
