Calvin W. Christy Calvin W. Christy, 82, of Groves died Friday, March 26, 2010 at his home. He was born on November 15, 1927 in Port Arthur, Texas to Samuel W. Christy and Annie Widger Christy. Calvin had traveled many years before settling back in this area in 1992. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Port Arthur congregation and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired as a construction superintendant from Bechtel and was certified by Texas A&M University as a master gardener. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Calvin is survived by his wife, Dianne Hudson Christy of Groves; two daughters, Cyndy Chance of Port Arthur, and Terry Erwin-Cavazos and husband, Phillip of Groves; three sons, Donovan Christy and wife, Karen of Nederland, Jett Christy of Lubbock, and Slade Christy of Groves; fifteen grandchildren, Wayne Chance, Christina Whitney, Vaughan Christy, Avery Christy, Jeff LeBlanc, Jaysa Muzzillo, Jesse Erwin, Adam Cavazos, Amanda Brooks, Christina Smith, Evelyn Cortez, Jett Christy II, Sarah Christy, Brandon Moore, and Corey Moore, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Uncle Calvin was my hero! He was always there when I needed a special kind of love and attention. He did many kind and helpful things in my growing up years. i have,and always will have him in my heart. I loved him dearly and he loved me. See you again in that beautiful place..watch for me.
